10 Reasons Your Business Needs a Blog

Follow me on:

blog post-itSo many small businesses are starting business blogs these days, and I think this is an all-around win. The benefits of a business blog are plentiful, and it really doesn't take much to get started.

If you're on the fence about starting a business blog, here are 10 reasons you should make the commitment and finally start that blog for your business:

  1. A business blog gives you a way to share your expertise.
  2. You can get to know your target audience.
  3. You can transform yourself from a company to a "real" person.
  4. You may develop a community of prospects.
  5. A business blog can give your clients and customers a place to connect with you.
  6. You can work an underused business muscle -- writing.
  7. You can (passively) promote your products and services.
  8. It's low-cost marketing.
  9. A business blog will round out your other marketing activities.
  10. Your competition is probably already blogging and reaping the rewards.

Keep in mind that a blog is not a do-it-and-forget-it marketing activity. But if you're willing to post consistently, interact with commenters, and share a bit of yourself, your business blog can become a tremendous asset to your online marketing activities.

Better yet, write a blog and create a Facebook page for your business – may I respectfully suggest the use of tools developed by my company Publisha for this? It allows you to publish a blog on the web, into Facebook as well as an iPad/iPhone app – then tweet the headline to your Twitter followers. Check it out at http://www.Publisha.com.
Thanks.

I agree that Publisha could be a great tool, particularly for new bloggers. I just wrote a review of Publisha that may be useful for anyone considering it.

Thanks for the comment, Stephanie! As a fellow VA, I (obviously) agree that blogs are important for businesses. And WordPress is a great way to do it! For anyone new to blogging, WordPress has a getting started guide that is great for beginners.

Our blog is a free one from the sitebuilder yola, we find it is very useful for updating our customers on general news – One thing we found interesting the tags generate new pages on the website that google likes.
