A phrase used in the business world that refers to starting and running a business with no or little capital. This approach requires a large amount of creativity and ideas to bring in money quickly and run a low cost operation. The bootstrap is a strap on the back of the boot for leverage to pull the boot on, in business this is creating leverage from a small start.
