The Most Ridiculous Business Idea

Sunday May 18, 2008
Andrew Gordon had made a simple observation while drinking a few pints of beer at a local pub. The tables in the bar were stabilized with napkins to prevent wobbling. Gordon's million dollar business idea was to create plastic tabs of varying thickness to fix the wobble in furniture. His next step was to raise funding for the idea and what better way to get the capital then the BBC's Dragon's Den -- a TV show where inventors pitch their idea to get funding from a panel of business experts.

The Stabletable was pitched to the Dragons who called Andrew's idea "the most ridiculous idea" ever seen on the show. Gordon left rejected but pursued his invention and is on his way to becoming a millionaire. Lesson learned: take the advice of experts with a grain of skepticism but let the best expert be the judge -- the customer.
