Business Innovation and Small Business

Friday November 4, 2005
Think of the words...business innovation. Companies thought as innovators are often from the realm of technology. Like Apple and iPod. However, business innovation occurs often in the world of small business and entrepreneurship. Last year's winner of The Stevie Awards for Women Entrepreneurs Most Innovative Company was HealthyGoodiesGifts.com. Created by Paula King and Susan Lawens, the company offers gifts for those with illnesses who have special diet needs. You don't have to be big and in the tech field to apply business innovation in your business.

"Innovation is Everybody's Business," as stated by Business Innovation 2005, a new blog from FORTUNE magazine. This blog highlights interviews, case studies and commentary on the theme of "business innovation”.

For more ideas on small business innovation, view my recent Q & A on the Fortune Innovation blog.

If you do come from the hi-tech industry consider the SBA's Small Business Innovation Research Program. The program provides the necessary start-up and development funds for American companies with less than 500 employees.
