Many small business owners are knowledge workers or consultants sharing valuable information to clients and potential prospects. With the onset of the Internet and especially blogging, small business has a chance to share knowledge with a much wider audience. However, new opportunities create new threats such as online copyright infringement. What do you do when someone steals your web content? An easy method to find out what websites have copied your content without permission is Copyscape.com. Simply type in your url address and Copyscape will find the offenders.

For American small business, take a look at the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Online Service Providers are required to remove copyright infringement material from websites if in violation.
