Biz Opportunity: New Breed of Coaching
Friday July 25, 2003
There comes a shattering moment in life when one is diagnosed with a chronic illness. It's a trying time for the individual and the families dealing with the illness. As our health care systems continue to struggle under high demand, the support for chronic illness sufferers is limited...until now. Enter, Tom Robinson, a new breed of coach...a chronic illness coach. Tom, a sufferer of Crohn’s disease, uses his illness to reach out and connect with others trying to live with a chronic illness.
The coaching industry has grown at incredible rates. According to the International Coaching Federation (ICF), there are currently 10,000 coaches globally, charging $200 to $500 per month and executive coaches billing companies up to $10,000 a month.
As coaching continues to grow, we will see specialization in areas such as ADD coaches, small business coaches and coaches like Tom Robinson. For some the appeal is not the easy high-income lifestyle, but the opportunity to connect with people and impact lives. In the end nothing else really matters.
